Questions

Can I use any lubricant along with the Caya® pessary?

No, silicone-based lubricants and the Caya® pessary do not tolerate each other. New tests have shown that silicone-based lubricants affect the Caya pessary. We recommend that all women and users of the Caya® pessary use only a water-based lubricant, such as Animé, along with Caya®. A water-based lubricant does not affect the application and safety of Caya®. However, you can also use the Caya® gel itself as a lubricant. It consists mainly of lactic acid and cellulose and contains no preservatives such as parabens or benzalkonium chloride.

No contraceptive (pill, IUD or condom) offers 100% certainty of not becoming pregnant. In fact, reliability depends greatly on its proper use. The Caya® pessary is as reliable as a conventional pessary; its reliability is between 97% and 99% when used properly. As you use Caya® more often, the reliability will increase with the use of this contraceptive.

You can insert the Caya pessary from, up to 2 hours before you want to have sex. Always in combination with the Caya gel. But you can also apply it just before sex. The big advantage is that, unlike with condoms, you do not have to interrupt the love game.

The Caya pessary, after initial use, should not be used for more than 2 years.

Using your longest finger (usually the middle finger), feel to see if the Caya® pessary is lying properly. Check that the silicone membrane completely covers the cervix and that the finger grip lies properly in the cavity behind the pubic bone. If this is the case then you are well and securely protected.

In principle, this is possible.

You apply the Caya gel to the inside of the Caya pessary. This will cause very little gel to enter the vagina before the pessary. Even if it does, it is not a problem with oral sex because the substances in the Caya gel are safe. The main ingredients are water, methylcellulosel ( which is non-toxic, not absorbed by the tissues or bloodstream and non-allergenic ) and lactic acid ( a natural constituent of the vagina ) Your partner can therefore have oral sex with confidence.

As with the use of a tampon, if the Caya® pessary is in the vagina continuously for more than 24 hours, it can be an incitement to unwanted growth of bacteria. These bacteria can then potentially lead to toxic shock syndrome.

Take Caya® out of the vagina and visit your doctor to be examined.

Yes, Caya® stays in position but you must use the applicator to apply additional Caya® Gel just in front of the pessary.

In case of a vaginal infection for example a fungal infection (Candida) or Bacterial Vaginosis you should consult your doctor for treatment. During the treatment of the infection use a condom and NOT the diaphragm. After the treatment is over, you should purchase and use a new Caya® pessary to prevent reinfections.

Concurrent use with a water-based lubricant does not affect the application and safety of Caya®.

This is very unlikely. In rare cases, he might feel the edge of the pessary.

No, the Caya® pessary does not negatively affect libido because it contains no hormones. Switching from the pill to the Caya pessary had a positive impact on libido for many women.

Check the position of Caya® with your finger. In case Caya® still continues to cause pain visit your doctor.

No, you do need to teach yourself to always use the Caya® pessary during intercourse.

This is virtually out of the question. If you do notice damage to the Caya® pessary after intercourse visit a doctor as soon as possible (within 5 days) to discuss the possible use of the “morning after pill.”

It is important to use the diaphragm with regularity and always in combination with the Caya® Gel. Thereby, the pessary should always be inserted before and not during intercourse.

If you are not sure whether the Caya Pessary fits you, you can have your GP or gynaecologist check whether the pessary fits. Request a free fitting set via our contact form.
