You state that bacterial vaginosis can be caused by vaginal showers. Evagynal is a vaginal solution that you also rinse the inside of the vagina with, right?
A plethora of research has shown that regular vaginal showering, even with lactic acid-containing products, can actually cause bacterial vaginosis. The vagina normally contains good Lactobacilli that ensure that the vagina has an acidity of pH 3.8-4.5. This maintains a good balance and prevents the bacteria that cause bacterial vaginosis from taking over. In vaginal showering, you actually flush the good Lactobacilli out of the vaginal environment and the balance is disturbed. Many women unfortunately do this as a daily “hygiene” routine, even without symptoms of bacterial vaginosis or after sex.
Evagynal you apply only if you already have bacterial vaginosis. This is characterized, among other things, by the absence of the good Lactobacilli. So the moment you use Evagynal there are almost no good Lactobacilli left in the vagina and this one-time flush has no negative effect. In addition, unlike antibiotics, Evagynal leaves any good Lactobacilli that may still be present undisturbed.
Why do I get my bacterial vaginosis back so quickly after antibiotic treatment?
Recently, it has been shown that the bacteria that cause bacterial vaginosis, Gardnerella Vaginalis and Atopobium Vaginae, apply a kind of bio-film over the vaginal tissue. The bacteria entrench themselves in this bio-film. It has been shown that the most commonly used antibiotics penetrate this bio-film poorly. Initially the symptoms seem to disappear but after some time the bacterial vaginosis returns. Evagynal does penetrate this bio-film.
Can I use Evagynal more often?
Evagynal is used only if you have bacterial vaginosis. In most cases, a one-time flush is sufficient. In some cases, for example if you have already had a lot of antibiotics for treatment, it is advisable to repeat the flush after 4 days. So it is not a substitute for routine vaginal showering! Vaginal showering is and remains bad. Bacterial Vaginosis remains a difficult condition to treat. It is always possible that your symptoms may return due to other causes.
After rinsing, the fluid drains directly from the vagina. Isn't that a bad thing?
No, this does not matter. Evagynal adheres to the vaginal tissue for several days after rinsing, allowing it to optimally develop its efficacy.
What can I do myself to ensure that bacterial vaginosis does not return?
It is important that the vaginal environment and acidity is not disturbed. In the section “the causes of bacterial vaginosis” you will find some things to consider. In addition, you can apply Normaflor vaginal tablets for 6 days a month, preferably right after each menstrual period, to acidify the vagina.
Can I use Evagynal during menstruation?
Menstruation has a great influence on the acidity of the vagina. Therefore, do not apply the single administration of Evagynal during but rather after menstruation.
May I have sexual contact while taking Evagynal?
We advise you to postpone this for a while as the man’s sperm is neutral and therefore the effect of Evagynal may be reduced. Evagynal adheres to the vaginal tissue for one week after administration. After this week, you can have sex again.
Can I use Evagynal if I want to become pregnant?
We advise you not to use Evagynal at your fertile times. The acidity of Evagynal has an adverse effect on sperm cells. They cannot survive well in an environment that is too acidic. During ovulation, the vagina becomes less acidic so that it is optimal for the sperm cells.
Can I use Evagynal during pregnancy?
Evagynal should not be used during pregnancy no studies have been done in pregnant women.
