Medical questions

I am not allowed to use hormones. Does Premeno contain hormones?

No, Premeno vaginal ovules do not contain hormones.

Premeno vaginal ovules contain fats that could possibly have an adverse effect on the quality of natural rubber condoms. We recommend using latex-free condoms made of polyurethane. In addition, these condoms are hypoallergenic. You can order these condoms from Condomerie, among others. Should you not wish to use polyurethane condoms, we recommend using Hyalofemme vaginal gel instead of Premeno. Hyalofemme also contains hyaluronic acid in the same dosage as in the Premeno ovules.

This can occur and is not serious, often due to small wounds in the vagina. The hyaluronic acid restores the vaginal tissue and helps the wounds heal. This burning is usually transient. If these symptoms persist or their severity increases then you should discontinue treatment and consult your doctor.

In principle, the costs of Premeno are not reimbursed. On an individual basis, for example in the case of women who should not use hormonal products due to cancer or other contraindications, the health insurance company can proceed to a full or partial reimbursement. However, the inclination for this varies from one insurer to another. If you think you qualify for this, your doctor/gynecologist can download and fill out an authorization on the Memidis Pharma website. You can then send that authorization with the bill to your insurer. Achmea reimburses Premeno in certain cases for its patients who have a contraindication to hormonal products. This varies by health insurance that fall under the Achmea label such as: Zilverenkruis, FBTO, Avéro Achmea and OZF. We recommend that you check with your health insurer.

No, Premeno is not a lubricant. A lubricant is usually applied just before intercourse. Premeno should be used regularly and provides long-term vaginal moisturization, helps heal wounds and gives support and elasticity to the vaginal tissue. This will improve the condition of the vagina and make lovemaking more enjoyable. If desired, you can use an additional lubricant during intercourse.

It is best to temporarily discontinue the use of Premeno during menstruation and resume immediately afterwards.

Yes, you can use Premeno as a supplement. However, consult with your attending physician first.

Yes, if you suffer from vaginal dryness, it certainly makes sense to use Premeno. It is known that phytoestrogens generally have a more mild effect on symptoms such as hot flashes and sweating than on those of a vaginal nature.

No, the effects of Premeno have not been studied during pregnancy. Therefore, we do not recommend its use during that period. After childbirth, however, Premeno can be used.

This is normal, initially you will notice that the moistening of the vagina will increase. Due to the menopause the tissue has often become thinner and drier for years, you will understand that this cannot be reversed in a short time. The optimal effect of the Premeno treatment can therefore only be expected after 2 to 3 months.

Stopping the use of Premeno causes your symptoms to slowly return. This is normal because natural estrogen is no longer being produced causing the vaginal atrophy. If you start using Premeno again after stopping, we recommend starting with the loading dose of 1 ovule per day for 10 days. After this you can switch to the maintenance dose of 1 ovule every 3 days.
